Meet your tour guides
Joe Satrom

Joe Satrom has been involved in the travel industry in some capacity for three decades. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University. He served as North Dakota Tourism Director in the 1970s and was on the National Board of Travel Industry of America and the Old West Regional Commission. He also was awarded the state's highest tourism honor, the Greater North Dakota Association's Tourism Award. He served as the Friendship Force Chairperson for North Dakota and organized the first exchange visit between Bismarck and Hamburg, Germany. Joe currently serves on a policy committee for the National Tourism Association.  He served as the first Chairman of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. He served as TRMF Chairman a second time and retired from the board in 2006. He was a delegate to a White House Conference on Tourism. Joe is a member of the Board of Directors of Satrom Travel & Tour.


Katherine Satrom

Katherine has been in the field of travel for three decades. A graduate of North Dakota State University, she holds a Master's Degree from Northwestern University. In addition to travel, her past experience includes administrative positions with the University of Mary and the North Dakota State Government, incolving communications, marketing and advertising, administration, and coordination of human resources. She has served on the Old West Regional Commission Advisory Committee on Tourism, the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce board and the state board of the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce. She also was a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business nad has served on the Aviation Committee of the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce. She is on the Board of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.

Day 2: Amsterdam

May 1, 2012

Arrive in Amsterdam. The "Venice of the North" is a garden of earthly delights-tree-shaded canals, 16th century gabled townhouses, hundreds of bridges and tulips everywhere! Meet your Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy an included Canal Cruise for a panmoramic tour of Amsterdam. The afternoon is yours to explore. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.


Day 3: Amsterdam/MS Amadeus Diamond

May 2, 2012

After breakfast at your hotel, you may choose an optional excursion to the Keukenhof Gardens at the height of tulip season. Keukenhof is also called "The Garden of Europe," known throughout the world for its open-air flower exhibition only held two months a year. Later, board the ms Amadeus Diamond, your home for the next 7 nights. Enjoy a light lunch after boarding. This evening there is a Welcome Reception and dinner onboard. Set sail for Venlo in the late evening.


Day 4: Venlo-Floriade 2012

Arrive in Venlo in the early morning. Experience an included full-day at Floriade 2012. Experience nature through sight, sound, taste, touch & smell. This is a cultural program of music, dance, literature, theatre and visual art from all over the world! Countless exciting, innovative, and educational displays of sustainable, pioneering architectural attractions will be shown. Plus, various restaurants and cafes offer delicious local and international cuisine, naturally prepared with home-grown ingredients!  Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are includedon board.


Day 5: Nijmegen, The Netherlands

May 4, 2012

Nijmegen is the oldest city in The Netherlands. Situated on a range of hills near the River Waal, you'll see why its citizens are so proud of their city. Admire the old buildings on the Grote Markt, stroll the Waalkade, or enjoy an optional excursion to the Kroller Muller Museum. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on board.


Day 6: Dusseldorf, Germany- Cologne, Germany

May 5, 2012

Arrive in Dusseldorf. Enjoy a walking tour o fthe Old Town. The Old Town of Dusseldorf was almost completely destroyed during WWII, and rebuilt according to historic plans on its foundation walls.  This afternoon, depart Dusseldorf for Cologne. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure in 2,000 year old Cologne, or take an optional city tour of Cologne. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on board.


Day 7: Rudesheim, Germany

May 6, 2012

Nature and history have left a rich history in Rudesheim. This wine-growing region's origins date back to pre-Roman times. The afternoon is yours to explore the Market Square, aristocratic mansions, and savor the local wines while you sample the best of genuine Rhine hospitality. Today breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included on board.


Day 8: Speyer, Germany

May 7, 2012

Dock in Speyer. Take an optional excursion to Heidelberg, famous for its red-walled, 16th-century castle.  Heidelberg represents the essence of German Romanticism with its postcard-perfect houses and maze of roofs. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner are included on board.


Day 9: Strasbourg, France

May 8, 2012

Arrive in Strasbourg, France. Enjoy an included city tour of one of Europe's most attractive cities. Culturally influenced by both Germany and France, your city tour includes the fascinating Old Quarter, La Petite France, and the magnificent Gothic cathedral with its famous astronomical clock. Enjoy a farewell dinner on board.


Day 10: Basel, Switzerland

May 9, 2012

After breakfast onboard the ship, arrive in Basel, Switzerland. Transfer to the Zurich Airport for return flights home.
