Mr. Jenkinson's background uniquely qualifies him to lead this special journey. He studied Greek & Latin and Classical Cultures at the University of Minnesota and Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. At Oxford, he learned enough Greek to read long selections of Homer's Iliad in the original. He has taught classical studies courses and the Latin language at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Mr. Jenkinson has previously led cultural tours to the Mediterranean. With his guests, he likes to create a dialogue about the roots of western civilization that is accessible to people of all educational backgrounds and all levels of curiosity.
At Oxford, Mr. Jenkinson studied the history of Christianity and the formulation of Christian doctrine. He has taught courses in the Bible, including the Bible as Literature, the Historicity of the Bible, and the Search for the Historical Jesus. These studies will inform his review of the places where the apostle Paul had his ministries.
Clay is the author of 8 books, the CEO of Dakota Sky Education, Inc., and the CEO of the Dakota Institute through the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation. Mr. Jenkinson is host of the nationally syndicated radio program The Thomas Jefferson Hour, heard on National Public Radio, and is the Chief Consultant for the Theodore Roosevelt Center at Dickinson State University.

Arrive in Barcelona. Transfer to the Hotel RCC Regente in the heart of Barcelona. This evening, celebrate Independence Day with President Thomas Jefferson!
This morning, we tour Barcelona. See the major landmarks of the Passeig de Gracia, Parque Guell and the Olympic Village. See the works of art at the Picasso Museum and the interior of Gaudi's Sagrada Familia Church.
This afternoon, we travel to the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat. As you travel up the mountains to the 14th-century monastery, you will have a chance to admire the unique stone formation of this natural park and the breathtaking views from the Shrine at 2100 feet!
At noon, we transfer to the pier for check-in. The ms Nieuw Amsterdam sets sail at 5:00 p.m.

Today we enjoy a shore excursion to Florence. A full-day tour includes the famed Piazza del Duomo, the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Baptistry. Traipse over the famous shopping bridge, Ponte Vecchio. Florence is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Civitavecchia is the port of call for Rome. Our group shore excursion in Rome includes admission to the Colosseum. We also visit the Vatican, including St. Peter's Basilica, the Sistine Chapel, and the Vatican Museum!
We dock in Naples this morning. Our group shore excursions today take us to Sorrento, a charming village situated on the Bay of Naples in the shadow of Mt. Vesuvius, and Pompeii, widely considered by archaeologists to be the finest example of an ancient Roman town. Time was frozen in Pompeii with the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, allowing an amazing view of ancient times.
See the beauty of Mt. Etna. The small museum here boasts works by Caravaggio!
Today while we cruise the Mediterranean Sea, enjoy a presentation by Clay Jenkinson.
Visit Mycenae (the Homeric city of the Atreides), and see the Lion's Gate, the Cyclopean Walls and Royal Tombs. Tour Epidaurus to visit the Theatre (4th Century BC), famous for its astonishing acoustics. Then travel to Corinth, where St. Paul lived and preached for two years. The remains of the city, including the Agora and Apollo's Temple, illustrate how rich and important Corinth was in ancient times.
Katakolon is your gateway to ancient Olympia, the archaeological site of the first Olympic Games in 776 BC. Every four years, the Olympic flame is rekindled here and carried to wherever the games are hosted around the world. You will see the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the Shrine of Pelops, the Council House, and the Archaelogical Museum of Olympia.
Lose yourself in the Venetian Old Town or head north for the dramatic seascapes. Fortresses flank your entrance to the most beautiful of the Ionians.
Magnificent medieval walls protect this World Heritage Site and former naval city-state. Inside are a beautiful 14th-century Franciscan monastery, the Sponza Palace and graceful stone palazzi.
We dock in Venice at 1:00 p.m. Overnight on the ship.
We disembark the Nieuw Amsterdam this morning. Transfer to the Hotel Splendid Suisse in the city center. Today we tour Venice. A walking tour takes us past the famous monuments of San Marco Square to the Rialto Bridge. Enter a labyrinth of narrow passageways, alleys, canals, and delicate bridges. We'll also see Campo Santa Maria Formosa, Marco Polo's house, an old merchant's warehouse and the most beautiful well-head in Venice! Visit the famed Basilica of St. Mark's, and take an elevator to the top of the Bell Tower to admire the pigeon's eye view of the city below. Then, tour the Guggenheim Museum-one of Italy's most important collections of both American and European art focusing on the personal collection of Peggy Guggenheim.
Today we transfer to the airport for our flights home.
