Joe Satrom has been involved in the travel industry in some capacity for three decades. He is a graduate of North Dakota State University. He served as North Dakota Tourism Director in the 1970s and was on the National Board of Travel Industry of America and the Old West Regional Commission. He also was awarded the state's highest tourism honor, the Greater North Dakota Association's Tourism Award. He served as the Friendship Force Chairperson for North Dakota and organized the first exchange visit between Bismarck and Hamburg, Germany. Joe currently serves on a policy committee for the National Tourism Association. He served as the first Chairman of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. He served as TRMF Chairman a second time and retired from the board in 2006. He was a delegate to a White House Conference on Tourism. Joe is a member of the Board of Directors of Satrom Travel & Tour.
Katherine has been in the field of travel for three decades. A graduate of North Dakota State University, she holds a Master's Degree from Northwestern University. In addition to travel, her past experience includes administrative positions with the University of Mary and the North Dakota State Government, incolving communications, marketing and advertising, administration, and coordination of human resources. She has served on the Old West Regional Commission Advisory Committee on Tourism, the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce board and the state board of the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce. She also was a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business nad has served on the Aviation Committee of the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce. She is on the Board of the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation.
Today we board our overnight flight across the Atlantic and Norwegian Sea to Oslo.
Arrive in "Beautiful Norway!" Meet your bus driver and guide and exchange money at the Airport Bank. Transfer by motor coach to the Radisson Blu Oslo Plaza Hotel for a "Welcome Dinner." Evening is free to adjust to the 7-hour change in time.

This morning after breakfast, we travel north to Eidsvoll, where the Constitution of Norway was signed in 1814. Our next stop is Hamar, Fargo's "sister city" for lunch. Tour Viking Ship Olympic Hall, City Hall, Hedemark Museum and continue to Ringsaker Church. Upon arrival in Lillehammer, we'll tour the Olympic sites. Our hotel for the evening is the Rica Victoria Hotel. Tonight dinner is included.
Today we travel through the King of Norwegian Valleys past Oyer and Hafjell and the bobsled track from the 1994 Olympics. Learn about the WWII battle with the Germans where 50 British soldiers were killed and buried. At Otta, we will see the statue of Prillar Guri who alerted farmers in 1612 that the Scottish soldiers were coming fast on their way to Sweden. About noon we will arrive at Dovre Church- "Back to Our Roots." Our evening will be planned by the Satrom Reunion Committee. Tonight is a special Meet & Greet or Treff. This morning after breakfast, a local guide takes us on a tour of Trondheim which includes the world-famous Nidaros Cathedral, Byaasen Ski area and "Utsikten"-a World War II submarine base and bunkers. The afternoon is yours to shop and sightsee on your own. Tonight dinner is included.
Today we travel to Geiranger. We stop at Valasjo for a special Norwegian luncheon and a tour of the museum and shopping. We journey back to Domas up to Lesja, Lesjakog and into the Romsdal Valley. The "Real Norway" is ribboned with beautiful waterfalls, lakes and rivers. We will see the Romsdal Skogge Bridge and the maginificent Tollsteigen (Troll's Ladder) past Stigfoss waterfall. We will stop for photos and a view of the valley below. At Valldal, we ferry to Eisdal, up and over the mountain pass for a view of Geiranger before traveling down the Eagles Highway into Geiranger. Our hotel for is the historic Union Hotel. Today dinner is included.
This morning after breakfast we begin our journey up a highway with 20 switchbacks! We pass by Flydalsjuvet for another famous view of the Geiranger Fjord and see the granduer of the glaciers and Lake Djupvatn (Deep Water). We enjoy a stop at Grotlitunnel and Videseter where we stop at the edge of a precipice overlooking Vidaelen. We pass Strynsvdne and Lake Eidal Oppstryn. At Sryn we will have a special stop for banking and stopping. Then we'll continue along the Nordfjord to Loen, Innvik and Utvik and over the mountains into Sunnfjord. Our destination this evening is Skei, where we overnight at the Skei Hotel. Tonight dinner is included.
We begin our day with breakfast and a drive along beautiful Lake Jolster to Lunde. We enter a five-mile tunnel to Boyum, the glaciers, lakes and streams close to the Sognefjord. We visit the Glaciered Center at Fjaerland and Mundal. We continue through the tunnels to Sogndal, and ferry across the Sognefjord Mannheller to Fodnes. At Laerdal we enter Norway's longest tunnel, which is 14.6 miles long. This afternoon we will take a two-hour long journey from Flam to Myrdal aboard the Flam Railroad, witha short sightseeing stop at Underdal. Tonight we arrive at the Stalheim Hotel. Tonight dinner is included.
After breakfast at the hotel we travel down "Stalheimskleiv," a short stop at Tvindefossen. In Voss, see the statue of football great Knut Rokne. We arrive in Bergen and tour the beautiful summer home of the late Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Our overnight in Bergen is at the Radisson Blue Hotel Byggen. Enjoy dinner on your own this evening.
Today we have a city sightseeing tour of Bergen with a local guide. See Maria Church, Mt. Floyen, and the world famous Fish Market. This afternoon we travel to Sletta to see the Western Norway Emigration Center, Brampton Church, and buildings from North Dakota and Minnesota. Our Farewell Dinner is at the Hella Skule with Steinar and Helen Vagenes as hosts. We return to Bergen for our overnight.
After breakfast we transfer to Flesland Airport for our return flights home.
